1996 Firebird BCM clicking will not start Interior lighs flashing also

Hello all, Well I picked up a 1996 Firebird for my daughter, we have had it for a few weeks and now it is giving me a problem. When you turn the key to start the car it does noting. Then the BCM makes a clicking sound and the interior lights will flash on and off. If you keep trying the car will start some of the time. I tried three or four sets of keys, removed and cleand the battery terminals and checked the body ground. I took jumper cables and put neg to the body and put jumper cables from a jump pack on. it does not stop the relay in the bcm from clicking away. what do you think do I need a new BCM or is it some bad connection some other place.......... ?
let me know thanks
Andy

Sounds more like your starter is clicking, have you checked that? Happened to me a while back. Got stuck at a parking lot at work, and had a friend drive me home to pick up a hammer. Came back, tapped the starter a few times, started right up. Might want to give that a try to see if that narrows the problem down for you.

Its not the starter, but I will wack it to see what happens. The BCM behind the glove box is clicking even when the key is not in the ignition. The interior lights are flashing with the key off and the BCM clicking away.

It will start after you turn the key, lets say you just open the door if it has been sitting for a while. It will not be doing the flashing light thing untill you turn the key. but after you take the key out it will continue to flash and click. the car will not start.

Well Guys I have to tell you, I replaced the BCM about a week ago and it seems to have corrected whatever the problem was. As an added note it had an additional symptom. Two times when the car started normally the relay in the BCM would start clicking while we were driving and the lighs (interior) would start flashing on and off. kinda strange but at that point I did not think it was the ignition switch as I had first thought. So hopfully it is done and over with.
