2002 Explorer stuck in 4 low

Went to drive vehicle one morning and found 4X4 stuck in 4 low. Pushing buttons does nothing. Sometimes 4 low button will flash or stay filly lit. When I start vehicle holding in 2 high button I hear a switch but still stays in 4 low.
Please help.

I'm asuming you had it in neutral and stoped when you tried to switch it back? If so check fuses. A guy I know had his 4Lo light come on when the 4x4 module went bad, but the truck wasn't actually in 4Lo, just the light was on.

Thanks, yep I put it in nutral. Still wont go in, the transfer case is definately in 4 low. I will check fuses though.

I am now having this problem with my 2007; were you able to fix the problem?

Yes it was the control module easy fix that cost me $500 at the dealer. I should have known better. Are you still under warranty?

i have a 2003 ford explorer it got stuck in 4lo dont know if it is advisable but i unhooked the squaire connecter on the transfer case we dont use it anyway and it dosent seem to hurt anythig just the 4x4 light flashes sometimes but 1.5 years later no problem when you dont have to money to fix and need the suv

again disconnect the batter for few minutes many will reste itself i own 2005 model
