Asian Culture/model building?
okay, how big is model Building in the Asian countries? it seems that the average asian person can build award winning models. I have yet to see one bad model from a asian builder. they are simply stunning and on a average a notch above others builders.

Well, some of the world's best model companies reside right in Japan (Tamiya, Fujimi, Aoshima, Hasegawa, Gunze Sangyo, Studio 27, etc.) so I imagine it's a pretty big obsession over there, there would only be so many companies if there was the market to support it. They make a lot more than just cars over there, they make Gundams, ships, planes, armor, anime figurines, etc. etc.

I think it has also rubbed off to their surrounding countries as well, in Hong Kong, Singapore, etc.

I think because asian countries are closer to Japan than US to japan, so we can get a competitive fair price here (no need to pay too much shipping cost), and people here are big fans of Japanese car .

Modelling has been long history, and I remember in 1988 (I was 11 yrs old), we already had a lot of Tamiya and Fujimi kits here and luckily I always live nearby them. However, at that time, a kit wasn't cheap at all. But I still finished some of the kit, such as BMW M3 (1988"), Tamiya 205WRC, 405WRC, and AE85......those finished not really good...I can post some pics later......

im Chinese, ive also noticed that modeling is popular among asians as well. i also build GKs as well and most of the better modelers i know are mostly Asian.
