1994 Sentra coolant system (1.6)
Today I changed all the radiator clamps and all the transmission cooler clamps. Removing the bottom clamp, I lost coolant from the radiator and some from the engine itself. After all clamps were installed, I started to fill the radiator back to full.
I ran the engine until the thermostat opened then filled the radiator full again. All of a sudden it started to pump coolant back into the coolant bottle, bubbling and spitting it out the over flow. Too much coolant or not enough or maybe just an air pocket? The engine was fine before this. |

Re: 1994 Sentra coolant system (1.6)
Anyone know what the procedure is for removing trapped air. I may have to bleed the system but not sure where the valve is for a 1994 Sentra (1.6)

try waiting overnight for the engine to cool off. then open the radiator cap and fill to top. you may have to try this a couple of times to get all the air out.

Re: 1994 Sentra coolant system (1.6)
Exposing the hot antifreeze to normal air pressure allowed it to boil and geyser out of the filler spout, that is why they have pressure caps on them, let it cool down then fill it up and leave the pressure cap on.

Re: 1994 Sentra coolant system (1.6)
I have refilled the radiator 3 times now. Allowing it to cool before I refill. After replacing the radiator cap, then letting the engine heat up to normal temperature, that's when it starts the churn into the over flow. I don't fill the radiator after it's already warmed up.
I think there is a bleeder somewhere, I just have to find it. |
