well...ive never had fliplights so i dont know much about them.but when i turn i turn the lights on i have to go out quickly and lift up on the driver side light so the bottom part can lift under it...and when i shut it off it slaps down before the other one. its kinda annoying. and when the lights r shut off and the car has just been shut off...the headlight motor whines a for a second or 2. idk whats up with it. but when i lift up on the light to get it to keep opening it feels like theres resistence like the hinge assembly needs to be oiled up a bit or something. anyone help??

Re: 88 Fliplight issues
The 87 & 88 Fieros have the "second gereration" head light motors. If you do a internet search on rodneydickman he has rebuild kits for what usually ails the motors at about $10. The internal plastic bearings turn to dust and the motor is unable to lift the door. Rodney rebuild kits have detailed directions. The driver's side motor is a little more difficult than the passenger side.
The easiest way is to remove the complete headlight assembly (four nuts) and unplug, then take it inside to a table and work on them. |
