another question i forgot to ask in my other thread

well my towncar has a power moon roof, suposedly the moonroof works but the switch is broken, do i gotta go through the dealer to get a new switch ordered, take my chances at the junk yard, or can i use a generi switch?

i've heard about there being 2 different types of moonroofs the 1 being it has 3 different switches for open, closed, and vent(which i aint so sure of) and the one i got where its just a i guess they call it a toggle switch only its sorta flat and shaped like a shallow v (trying my best to describe, hopefully somebody understands what im saying)

but any ways the switch is broken and its in the center of a little module with 2 lights on either side, i cant figure out how to pull this little module out to get to the switch, can some one help me out? also, what are some suggested tips on maitenance on the moonroof?

I don't have a moonroof in my TC.. I have heard that these switches are shit and troublesome. Get a copy of your 97 FSM from my website, it should help some regarding that module removal and maintenance.

Re: another question i forgot to ask in my other thread

I gave you some great choices... I'll elaborate...
  • My website has your 1997 Factory Service Manual, it's free.
  • Also on my website, I've spent a great deal of time pulling the entire 1996 contents for Moon Roof to PDF and posting it in convenient zip files. I'm not 100% sure there's no difference between 96 & 97.

The FSM is a software suite in itself, zip extractors are free, PDF readers are also free. The following links have everything you'll need.
