92 Cutlas Ciera Blinker Problems

I have 92 Cutlas Ciera, and when I turn the right blinker on, it blinks really fast, and the radio and other lights flicker, but the blinker on the outside doesn't work. I don't now if it is the blinker, the car has 2 blinkers, one by the headlight, and one on the bumper. The one on the bumper works fine, the rear blinker also works fine, but the one by the headlight does not. When I turn on the headlights, the blinker doesn't blink at all, it just stays lit up. I changed the bulb on the one by the headlight, and that didn't help. I checked the fuse, and it is good. If any one has any other ideas? Thanks

Welcome to AF.

A fast blinker indicates you have a turn signal bulb out on that side.

OK, so I checked all the bulbs, on both sides, and they all seem to be working fine. Also, I noticed that when I turn the blinker on to the right side (the one that blinks fast), the left side blinkers, flicker a little. Any ideas? Thanks.

Re: 92 Cutlas Ciera Blinker Problems

have you noticed anything like a stream of smoke coming up from the steering collumn? Ive had similar issues, its all within the turn signal switch, i found if u pull of the steering wheel, right away you can see the whole switch, at that point put the key in the run position, and try the signals, if u see any arching from any of the 6 contacts, theres ur issue...or just look for something out of the ordinary, it could even be so warn out, the contacts arent even touching right. I replaced mine myself, the part was about 80 bucks though

No I haven't seen any smoke, but the car was having this problem when I got it. I have never pulled a steering wheel before, what do I need to do it? I don't have a whole lot of tools.

It seems that your style is different from mine, not sure how much it varies, but its worth a shot checking out. all i needed was a socket to remove the center bolt, then a steering wheel puller. autozone is a great place for info, i searched up what i can on Turn Signal replacement for your vehicle

Re: 92 Cutlas Ciera Blinker Problems

these two years are very simular, but I did for get to mention the flasher/blinker relay.

Its around the steering colum, one for each side I believe,
that link to the zone will show you where its located.

Re: 92 Cutlas Ciera Blinker Problems

I had problems in my 92 cutlass with the signals blinking and it was just the flasher which is behind the glove compartment.
