WIP: Richard Burns 1998 Mitsubishi Evo IV (Tribute Build)

As my part of the tribute build, one of the cars I chose to build was Richard's 1998 Safari car, also representative of his first WRC win.

For those unsure, here's a photo of Richard and said car on the podium:

The kit is Hasegawa, and although initial inspection would indicate that it comes with some nice white metal parts for the rally specific extras, further inspection makes it clear that the white metal parts are not up to standard. To take care of this, "experts" were consulted and the task of bending and soldering was undertaken:

Due to a lack of readily available reference material, I opted to go for a generally OOB build with only necessary details added, with this mind I forged ahead with the chassis and interior.

Photos of the interior tub will follow shortly, Hasegawa's simplified version doesn't provide too much in the way of eye-candy though.

Thanks should be extended to Stevenski, Andy and Gio (listed in no specific order) for their advice on soldering

Re: WIP: Richard Burns 1998 Mitsubishi Evo IV (Tribute Build)

great start Ray and nice work on soldering the new front bars. I did a bit of soldering for the frame on my 917 & ended up with more solder than bar in places so I know how tricky it can be.
What did you use for the structure? Nice to see a safari kit too, they seem to be a rarity on here.

Really look forward to keeping up with your updates.

on the solder/brass work!

Don't think that this or anything else gets you off the 037 hook!
