S10 Blazer fuel problems

I have a 1988 S10 Blazer with 2.8 TB. I was driving it and it just died and wouldn't restart. If I pour gas in TB it will start until it burns it off then die's. I replaced the fuel pump relay, but no luck. I checked the power to the brown and white wire to the relay with the key on and had no power. I read that power goes through the oil pressure sending unit, my truck has two! What should I check before dropping the fuel tank to replace the pump?
Thanks for helping.

Re: S10 Blazer fuel problems

Can you hear the fuel pump run?
Have you checked fuel filter and fuel pressure.
How are the fuses?
Do you have ign power to fuel pump relay on orange wire?

Re: S10 Blazer fuel problems

MT, Thank you for replying.
I can not hear the fuel pump, I did not check fuel filter (figured if it was clogging it would have started running bad before dying) or pressure yet, and I do have power to the orange wire at the relay with the key on.

Also is it worth cutting a access panel in the rear floor to gain access to the pump so I don't need to drop the tank (this is a old truck I use as a spare vehicle)

Re: S10 Blazer fuel problems

MT, The book does not show a fuse for the fuel pump, do you know which one it is?

Thanks again

If you have spark and no fuel pump run.
Jumper fuel pump with a fused jumper and see if it will run and have pressure.
EMC-B and EMC-1 powers the orange to fuel pump relay and injectors.

Thank you for the help. I found a broken wire going to the fuel pump, bad news was it was right on top of the tank and I couldn't get to it without dropping the tank, what a pain that was. Runs like a champ.
Again thanks for the help.
