Is this engine worth anything?
Greetings. I know nothing about engines or cars so excuse my ignorance. I have a tailgate vehicle that is a 1976 Chevy Silverado with the 454 engine. This vehicle was an old rescue vehicle that was hardly used. It now has 28,000 miles on the original engine. That is not a typo, only 28,000 miles. Since the vehicle is only used for football games it will not get more than 300 miles put on it yearly. I bought this vehicle very cheap, less than a grand. If the truck should crap out and it is not related to the engine would it be worth salvaging the engine? Again, I know nothing about cars but I thought someone may want that big ass engine. Thanks for the help.

Re: Is this engine worth anything?
As long as you changed all the fluids the engine should last quite a while.
As far as it being worth anything. Everything's worth something, but it's certainly no collectors item.

Re: Is this engine worth anything?
You could easily sell the engine to someone who likes to build Street Rods.. 454's are a great engine and con produce a lot of power, especially with today's advancements.
