Re: building a head
Largely unneeded. Go with BC, Comp, or FP cams as they are cheaper than HKS's. Depending on the grind, you may or may not need adjustable cam gears (I would suggets FP2's, compatible with stock springs/retainers, cheapest, and they dont need adjustable cam gearrs). You dont need new valves, guides, rocker arms, or locks unless the old ones are defunct. Same goes for the lifters, I wouldnt waste the money unless they are ticking like mad. The ARP's are good though, as are the new valve seals (not necessarily Ferrea), and the springs/retainers are a pretty good idea as well, though also unneeded.

Re: building a head
How many miles are on the car? If it's any more than 150k, I would say upgrade the head internals as well, that shit is already almost 16 years old.

![]() If you really want all that then that is fine, but whether you need it or not is debatable. I should also note there is some routine maintenance that is much more important than mods, be sure you take care of those first. Things include a valve job, making sure the head is straignt, and a timing belt job. |

Re: building a head
Retainers are part of the reciprocating mass though, which can be looked at as just a really flat circle.
