Latest pics of the RX7

I think the recessed headlight conversion for the Greddy RX-7 is about done. Just some trimming here and there. The car itself is not done yet (still waiting on decals!!! ).

In-progress pics showing the scratchbuilt headlight module:

This was the original concept / mock-up design. I used styrene sheet and tube as materials. Cut off the headlight cover and used it as the base for all measurements.

After all final pieces manufactured and puttied up. Just waiting for paint.

Some accidents happened along the way forcing me to strip off paint from the hood. Oh well, the hazard of working on a painted model (as FOTW had mentioned).

Finished pics

Really glad the hood came as a separate piece from the rest of the body. It really made the mod much easier (more room to work with).

I scratchbuilt the rear-diffuser too.

Comments are welcomed...

You did a great job man!~ I am falling in love with RX7 FD.
Just a question, why the bluetacks still on the rear spoiler?

Well, I had the spoiler glued down using krystal clear before. It snapped off due to lots of handling during the whole headlight conversion process. Thank goodness it's krystal clear , no glue residue on the hood at all and no damage to the spoiler.

Btw, something annoying about krystal clear (KC), since it is water soluble, it seems that even in the "hardened" state, it is STILL water soluble. Bad news if you're thinking about washing a model that has some heavy part glued using KC.
