92 Cavalier rear brake keep tighting up

I have 92 cavalier and when i loosen the brakes up they tighten back up in about a week of driving to the point if you apply them with force they will lock up. It has new brakes all around. was just wondering if the hardware might just be worn in the rear brakes?
Thanks, Robert

Re: 92 Cavalier rear brake keep tighting up

They are supposed to tighten to take up the gap between the shoe and the drum. You need to make sure your rear brakes are adjusted up properly. It seems backwards, but if they aren't adjusted up enough they can pitch out when you hit the pedal and grab the drum wierd causing the rears to lock up. Is it only the rears locking up?

Yes it only the rear. I'll check that tomorrow. I have always tightened them up to about the same level on all my vehicles but this car is the only one i have ever had this problem with.
Thanks
