Amsoil 0W-30

Is 0W-30 oil OK for my 03 4.8? How many quarts does it actually hold with filter change?

Use the recommended oil weight that is in your user manual. I believe it is 5w-30. If you use anything thiner than 5w and thicker than 10w, then you could cause early termination to your enigne. If you truck is under warrenty, you could void it out.
How many miles on your truck? What year?

Re: Amsoil 0W-30

So when your engine Fails, are they going to cover the cost to repair it?
I don't think so, even if they claim it you would have to prove it.
Don't take the chance.. use the manufacture's recommendation. 5w-30

Re: Amsoil 0W-30

5w30 Conventional. Normally Penzoil or whatever is reasonably priced. Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive.

Re: Amsoil 0W-30

I also think that the 0W-30 oil may be more expensive. I used to run it but now run 5W-30.

Ever since it's first oil change I have always used Castrol GTX 5w30
I now have 160K miles on it and it has never hicupped.
I am thinking about switching to the High milage, but I have not decided yet.

Re: Amsoil 0W-30

Mobil 1 fully synthetic, 5-w30, every 3000 miles or so, 50+k no problems, I change mine so often because I run my truck hard, everyday. This last change I threw 1qt of lucas synthetic oil treatment in.

Re: Amsoil 0W-30

I'm probably the roughest person on a silverado here(countless nitrous bottles put through it) and I've had zero problems out of my 6.0L. I've always and will continue to always use the Castrol Synthetic blend 10w 30. I figure that if its held up to what I've put it through, it has to be a pretty good oil.
