95 pgt help please
ok i just got my first probe and it didnt run.me and my dad tinkered with it some and got it running but it will only idle if you give it any gas it will stall out at around 2500 rpms.i know its not the fuel pump because it will idle until it runs out of gas would this be bad injectors?also there is smoke coming off the front of the motor right under the exhaust header my dad says its just oil burning off but i think its something more serious.any help on my situation would be well appreciated

The fuel filter could be partially plugged up keepinig it from running at higher rpms. When you turn the ignition on but don't start it can you hear the fuel pump humming? If you can the pump probably is all right. I think your Dad is right. You've got some oil leaking around the valve cover and it's running onto the hot exhaust manifold. How does it drive? Will it keep running or does it stall out?

sometimes it will run real strong,other times it will stall when you give it gas,and yesterday it wouldnt even start.

Probes are known for the problems they have with distributors. I have a 95 as well. When I got it there was a stumble at higher rpms. Turned out the plug wires had cracks in the bakelite ends that go over the plug, allowing it to short out and causing a miss. One night I parked it and the next morning it wouldn't start. It had been running perfectly until that night. Turned out to be the distributor. Check and make sure you are getting ample spark.

i checked the spark today and thats what it was,there was corn inside of the wire ends for the plugs...i think ill get a new distributor (how much will one cost?) and give it a tune up.whats the cheapest cold air or ram air kit for this car?the factory box is to ulky and the rubber boot is al cracked underneath and dry rotted

The distibutor is a very expensive item for a Pgt as they have an igniter instead of a coil, and it is the igniter that goes. There is a work around for it, but I just bought a new one. In Canada it was about $600. or so, so you don't want to replace it if you don't have to. As for the cold air intake, being in Canada and having the weather cold in winter I have never bothered. I use a K and N filter and just refresh it every 5000 kms with the K and N oil. Glad you got the problem fixed, you will come to love your probe. Every time I drive mine I enjoy it as if it was the first time.

dang,i dont have enough money to spend 800 on a distributor(checked them out online) would it be worth looking for one at a junkyard or do you think that they would all be bad also or just really expensive and used?ill start by replacing plugs and wires and see if that fixes it if not i may just sell the car for more than i bought it for(i got it for 500)edit:i just found one for 200 usd.can you tell me if this is the right one and does anybody know if this is a good parts store?

I would consider the "HEI Mod" if I were you, and do away with the troublesome Probe distributor all together. Here's a link for a good distributor:
