Exhaust (any suggestions)

Car Info: 91 firebird 305 v8 (all stock)

I'm looking into getting a cat-back exhaust but i don't want one thats going to be illegal to drive on the streets because of the noise. I want one thats going to sounds nice when i'm cruising and mean when i'm getting speedy

I have been looking into mangaflow. This system seems pretty good. any idea how it sounds?

I was wondering if you guys had a good suggestions for a exhaust system for me. I would appreciate it very much.

depends where u live but i figure straight header is way to loud plus if you floor it without tuning it your check engine will come on and youll have to pull over and turn the car off for about 2-3 minutes and then it'll be good agian.

if you have a cat on there but no muffler you should be fine. i got pulled over many times for speeding when i didnt have a muffler and when i drove away they never pulled me over again cuz it was to loud.

i figure if harleys can be as loud as they are...so can i

Re: Exhaust (any suggestions)

I think i might have a problem. I have been searching for a mangaflow system that would fit my 1991 firebird and all i find is set ups for 92 and up... The only products i can really find for it is flowmaster. anyway does anyone suggest just changing the muffler?

Re: Exhaust (any suggestions)

ive got flowmasters 3in american thunder exhaust system on my IROC, and i will never look back. exhaust sound is very person specific. what sounds good to one person, dosnt sound good to another. i really like the roar of the 80 series muffler, but i grew up around the drag strip, where the sounds were way different than the basso rumble from a magnaflow. they sound good, dont get me wrong, its just not really my thing.

the combo i have is edelbrock TES headers into a high flow catalytic converter, into the 3in american thunder system. it has a very mellow rumble at idle, and at cruising speeds, its there, massaging the pleasure lobe of the brain, but not being invasive (honestly i normally have the windows down and t-tops off so i cant comment on cabin noise with the windows up.) but when you really stomp it with the tires spinning and smoke billowing the sound is right off the drag strip and to me its absolute music. the whole system wound up costing me around $600-$700. I installed everything myself to avoid paying labor. welding is the best way to go, but ive found stainless steel exhaust clamps have served me just fine.

if price is no option, i would also suggest looking at the GMMG inc. chambered exhaust system. its what i actually really wanted, but i couldnt swing the price. 700 bucks just for the catback. but an amazing sound.
