94 intrepid has A BUNCH OF PROBLEMS need help!!!!

ok i just got this car and when you move the tilt stearing wheel alot of the things turn on and off. like the ac doesnt work all the time. ill turn it on and nothin, then ill hit the steering wheel and it turns on!?!?!? same with the temp or air it blows. and the same thign happens with the airbag light, the locks, and the windows. and theyres this wierd clicking noise that sounds like a um vacum valve that clicks after the ac is turned on and off . but it only douse it for a minute or so.

also thayres a miss as well, when it idles it gos form bout 750 rpm's to 500 and back every couple of seconds and bogs down,and the oil light comes on when it gos down couse its ready to stall. and the moter shakes, and the exquast puffs when it douse it too which im sure is the moter miss firing. how to i advance the ignition timing or check to see why its doing that????

And theyre is water that sprays out of the muffler too when it puffs? its clear and some black????

ive also noticed that the struts are bad and how much douse it usuallyt run to get them replaced????

please try to answer all these questions asap !!!!!!!!!!!! i know its alot but if i can find out how to fix them it would be great!!! THANK YOU

Welcome to AF.

Sounds like you have some problems.......

on the freaky on/pff with the tilt, you probly have a short in the wire harness and when you use the tilt it shorts out more. You'll need to take a look to find these problems and will probley need the harness replaced.

If its missing out, try new plug & wires.
If that doesnt fix it check the coils.


A little water out the tail ppipe is normal due to condensation.

Struts run about $100-150 each depending on where you buy them, plus install. Might get a deal when replacing all 4 at once.

alright well ive torn apart the stearing colum and founf that the black plastic ignition switch box is somehow shorting couse when i push on it , it turns eveything on and off. and on the other end of it is the key which i can giggle and it also turns everything on and off. Also the hazerd button dousent work and sometimes makes the blinkers not work eather so i have to push it a bunch of times until it sticks a little to get the damn blinkers to work. so what i am doing tomorow is going to the junk yard and pulling out a whole damn stearing colum. weal and all and replacing it! and prayin that the one i get douse'nt have the sam problem!!!! hope this works !! lol
