Re: s10 brake problems

Welcome to the forum!

What pads were replaced? Which brake(s) are dragging? Were the rotors machined or replaced? Was the hardware replaced? Were the calipers replaced?

It could be that automatic transmission fluid was inadvertently added to the brake reservoir, contaminating the system. Could be a binding caliper piston or hardware, even a restricted flex line, or a stuck park brake component. We need a little more information.

Re: s10 brake problems

if its a front brake thats dragging it could be an imploded rubber hose. to test find which wheel is dragging and open the bleed just a little for a 1/2 second and close it. if the wheel frees its the hose

Re: s10 brake problems

replaced all pad as it has 4 wheel disc brakes ,rotors where replaced . brakes where bleed but did not bleed right ? started as book says but only get fluid out of rear on first round of bleeding running or not. second round no fluid. front brakes drag bad will lock front wheels on pavement. can bleed one caliper and fix problem does not matter which one. all hardware was cleaned and greased.help

Re: s10 brake problems

When replacing pads and rotors, it is not necessary to bleed the hydraulic system. The only time the system requires bleeding is if a leak occurs. If the vehicle is equipped with ABS and the master cylinder goes dry, an ABS capable scan tool is mandatory to bleed the system. That may be why you're having trouble bleeding the system.

Re: s10 brake problems

bleed system to try to fix problem with system holding pressure when brakes not applied.thought might be air in system heating up and expanding.master cylinder did not even get low so thats not a problem. did not bleed brakes because i put new pads on why would anyone do that unless they had to loosen a line.anymore ideals?

Re: s10 brake problems

Which system is holding pressure, front, rear or both? Or is it just one wheel? If you open a bleeder valve, does the wheel turn freely?
