K&N Air Filter

I have a 91 Cougar SL 3.8 runs great now has about 50,000 miles on it. I am getting ready to change the air filter. Would replacing with the K&N air filter be a good or bad thing. I am not looking for better performance other then maybe a little better gas mileage am getting around 24 mpg combination city and highway.... On the city, its really small towns most of them do have two or three stop signs...

Appreciate any imput would hate to give it more air flow then the factory calls for if harmful.

Re: K&N Air Filter

I got the K&N Air Filter and installed it. I think it was well worth the money. Better mileage and car seems to run better. Easy install I followed K&Ns directions.

Last two times in for service I had the air filter checked and was told it was OK. I asked them to replace it anyway last time and they told me they didn't stock that filter.

When I installed the K&N I found the air box was not hooked at the bottom and the bottom of the old air filter was coming apart.... So much for quick oil changes..... I started to think I had a problem with them when they asked me if I wanted them to check the fluid levels.

I now have them on order for my other two running vehicles.
