HELP! major problems with my jetta.. what should i do?
Was hoping someone could give me a hand on what I should do... I am able to pull codes from my 2001, New Jetta, 2.0L, 5 speed, AVH Engine.
86,000 miles. i have babied it with oil changes every 3000 Miles, a new airfilter, premium fuel.. etc etc. I know what some of them mean but i dont know what to do... 1. 16891 (P0507) Idle Speed Control System RPM Above Desired Value Intermittent 2. 17560 (P1152) Bank1, Mixture Adaptation Range 2 Below Lean Limit 3. 17550 (P1142) Load Registration Limit Exceeded Intermittent 4. 17573 (P1165) Bank1, Mixture Adaptation Range 1 Rich Limit Exceeded Intermittent 5. 16645 (P0261) Injector Cyl.1-N30 Short to ground Intermittent 6. 16651 (P0267) Injector Cyl.3-N32 Short to ground Intermittent 7. 16654 (P0270) Injector Cyl.4-N33 Short to ground Intermittent 8. 16648 (P0264) Injector Cyl.2-N31 Short to ground Intermittent 9. 17833 (P1425) Tank Ventilation Valve-N80 Short to Ground Intermittent 10. 17525 (P1117) O2 Sensor Heater Circ. (Bank1-SNS 2) Short to Ground Intermittent 11. 17843 (P1435) Secondary Air Pump Relay-J299 Short to ground Intermittent 12. 18062 (P1654) Electronic Instrument Panel Intermittent Luckily VW just extended the warranty on the catalytic converter because I had that code in there too and they just replaced that a week ago for me at no charge. Dont get me started on the headlights... that was enough a head ache.... or the tail lights for that matter... and the window motor, my 6 disk CD changer no longer works. a wheel bearing, or how the cable that goes to my ABS sensor in one of my wheels corroded away... luckily the cruise control killing my brake lights problem was a recall... my right back wheel sounds like its squeeling on something... but if i touch the brake a little its quiets instantly.... (thats intermittent) *sigh* i could go on for days with this... I love my car but hate the problems with it. anyway.... I have tried replacing the throatle housing and that didnt change anything. I have the O2 Sensor sitting at home... havnt put it in yet... i can still return it if thats not an issue... but once i open it im screwed... it is also burning a quart of oil every 2000 miles now... it wasnt doing that when i bought it a year ago... hopeing someone can help me here... any VW techs out there? It is really running bad... wont stay on sometimes.. just idles low and dies or to high... constantly/intermittently/both... its rather retarded... help? thanks! -bryan |

From what I have seen on the response from this board is that you won't get a quick answer. I would try to repost this question on vwvortex.com there is a good chance someone will know.

Re: HELP! major problems with my jetta.. what should i do?
Is it running rough? a common problem is that the coil pack/ignition coils are cracked. I would clean the injectors or replace them, and systematically check all parts to the codes that were thrown but all those problems may be caused by a bad computer maybe?
