CPR needed for my Neon
I have a 2000 Plymouth Neon LX (or as my mechanic argues with me a Born on May 1999). It has about 150,000 miles on it.
This year I have had the water pump replaced, timing belt fixed 2xs. Apparently they stopped making the manual tensioner and there is a 6 month waiting list from the manufacturer. Somehow my garage made one...I don't ask, they guaranteed it. Once again its in the shop. This SUnday on the interstate, I lost my RPMs cruising along at 70 mph. I thought it was the timing belt. But no it wasn't. They said crank sensor...but no its not. Now they are saying the computer. But they can't get the part for a few days, since it also is not being made. So what I want to know is....anyone else have similar problems or alternative solutions? And where can I get an aftermarket computer? I have a lot of friends that autocross so tuning/setting up wouldnt be hard. |

Re: CPR needed for my Neon
Ok so the mechanics have come around to my way of thinking that its the timing belt...........so my manual (not hydraulic) tensioner needs replaced.
I've been told there is a 6 month backorder from manufacturer and 1 new one for $450 in Washington. I can't find a used one for the life of me!! Anyone?? ![]() And can anyone tell me if a timing belt conversion kit will work? They sell them but I've been told it won't work. |
