'93 Crown Vic - Worth it?
I just talked to a guy yesterday who's selling a '93 CV for $1200.
He says the reason it's cheap is because the overdrive kicks in and out at highway speeds. Any idea how much this will run me in the future? Is the car worth buying? I'm hopefully going to be testdriving it today, so fast responses are highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Re: '93 Crown Vic - Worth it?
Don't buy it.
My father's 94 had the same problem. The tranny is starting to go out. You could get one from a junkyard and replace it but the problem will not go away. It will just get progressively worse. You could talk to a junk yard and see what one will cost and have the guy come down that much. You would have to replace the tranny yourself but you might be able to get a really good deal. The car is a really great car, 24mpg in town and 28 on the highway with gob's of power. It handles like a land barge but if you can ignore that its a pretty nice car. You should be able to find them in good shape for the price range you are looking at without the tranny problem. I saw them all over Houston for 2K last year. Just check out the local paper or the guy who buys all the old police cars, resprays them and sells'em cheap. Probably be a better chance of not getting one with a tranny issue. |
