3 degrees more?

I am about to buy a tuned PCM for my '97 GTP and I see that there is an option to add +3 degrees of timing or adjustable timing tables. I am thinking about using the +3 degrees of timing option. This PCM is from the W-body store. Here's the link>> http://www.wbodystore.com/grandprix/...pcm-p-198.html

Also, I see a delete option for this >> Random/ Multiple Misfire DTC
Would these be wise choices when ordering my PCM? I run 93 octane and an additive. Who does the best tuned PCM's for our cars? Thanks alot!

Re: 3 degrees more?

If your GTP is a daily driver....no! My question is what mods do you currently have or plan on getting to support custom programming of this nature? I would not get the delete option for Random/ Multiple Misfire DTC unless necessary. This option is for when running hot cams that can set off this DTC which is P0300.

Re: 3 degrees more?

Yes, it is a daily driver. My mods will be as follows: 3.3" mps, JMB 4" FWI, Powerlog, 3" offroad downpipe, 180 drilled t-stat, 1.9 ratio roller rockers, throttle body spacer, etc... and eventually a 2500 stall.

Re: 3 degrees more?

Ok...now we're getting somewhere. With your mods the 3 degree timing will be fine but you're stuck with the 93 octane or better fuel. Pass on the random misfire delete. Not needed unless you plan on an aftermarket cam. I use the SLP 1.8 roller rockers in my GTP and know this is not a problem with aftermarket rockers. Here are some additional guidelines from Intense Racing concerning timing and what custom programming to go for.

Quote:
Stock WOT ignition timing tables - ideal for supercharged vehicles where 91 or 92 octane fuel is the highest available.

Increase WOT ignition timing tables by up to 3 degrees - ideal for naturally aspirated vehicles with any premium fuel, or supercharged vehicles with stock camshaft where 93 or 94 octane fuel is readily available.

Increase WOT ignition timing tables by up to 4 degrees - ideal for supercharged vehicles with aftermarket camshaft or intercooler where 93 or 94 octane fuel is readily available.

Increase WOT ignition timing tables by up to 6 degrees - ideal for supercharged vehicles with aftermarket camshaft and intercooler where 93 or 94 octane fuel is readily available.
