98 Grand Prix-3.8L: Coolant level sensor
Randomly my "low coolant" light illuminates. I does it while just driving along or after a take off. As quickly as it comes on it will go off. Checked fluid levels...everything is consistanly normal and filled. This instanly makes me think coolant level sensor. Anyone have any experience with this?

Re: 98 Grand Prix-3.8L: Coolant level sensor
Welcome to AF
The coolant level sensor is in the passenger side radiator tank about 1/3 the way down. It's a 1 inch or so square box with a wiring harness attached. It is fairly common for them to get gunked up with sludge, causing the low coolant light to come on even when the coolant level is fine. You can try removing it (it may help to remove the battery for clearance) and cleaning it out, as this has worked for many GP owners.
