Angry Was I ripped off?????

I am having an issue with an authorized Chevy dealer and thinking I've been taken to the cleaners.
I have a 2003 Impalla with a 3.4 Engine. I have a noise coming from under the hood (a rattleling sound) that I know is the Tensioner for the Serpentine belt. I recently had the belt replaced and started having this noise only minutes after having the Belt replaced. Before then, there were NO noises at all.

The dealer told me that the noise was coming from the Compressor for the Air condtioner. I still have the exact same noise now after forking over $1,000 for a new compressor. Before doing the work, I told them that with the cooler months coming, that I would put off having this replaced. I was then told that the Defroster wouldn't work because it runs through the compressor. This is news to me!! I always thought that the Defroster was on a seperate blower motor and had nothing to do with an Air Condtioning compressor. I will be going back to the dealer tomorrow and would appreciate if anyone knows if there is any truth to this.

Many Thanks

Re: Was I ripped off?????

The ac compressor operates in the defrost position in any weather over 40 degrees to assist in drying the air. Your isue should be an ineffective repair/diagnosis on their part.
