99 Tahoe Transmission Won't Downshift
I have a 99 Tahoe and when I come to a stop it won't downshift, so when I try to take off it is in high gear and has no power. If I manually shift it into 1st then it down shifts OK and I can take off with no problem and then shift up and it works perfectly from then on until I stop again.
I took it to a transmission shop and was told first that it was electrical and shouldn't be too much to fix and then I got a call and they said that there was water or antifreeze in the tranny fluid and the whole transmission needs rebuilding. This transmission was rebuilt at a chevrolet dealer about 17 months and 16,000 miles ago. Any suggestions? |

Re: 99 Tahoe Transmission Won't Downshift
Welcome to AF, ask what caused this, if the trans cooler failed then you have no complaint, what other path is there with this? Or go back to the dealer and ask for consideration.
