replaced a 305 with a 350

I was wondering if I need to replace the computer if I change the motor from a 305 to a 350

The computer is the same, but the PROM is different.

Take a look at http://www.tbichips.com/faq.htm

What parts are you talking about getting? Most of your accessory parts (alternator, waterpump, etc,) are interchangable between the 305 and 350.

The previous message, I was told that I needed to change my injectors, electronic spark control and the prom chip

Re: replaced a 305 with a 350

If the 350 is mostly stock, the injectors and electronic sprak control can be reused from the 305. The 350 Prom is a good idea since the fuel requirements for the 350 are different from the 305.

Re: replaced a 305 with a 350

I'd research the injectors. Look to see if they have the same part #. If not then yes I would definantley change the injectors. The 350 probably does require more fuel displacement than a 305.

Re: replaced a 305 with a 350

Looks like the 350 injectors are different from the 305. The F-body guys have been doing 305 to 350 swaps for a while.

See http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/tb...-350-swap.html

Re: replaced a 305 with a 350

If you live in an area that requires emission testing, be aware that you *may* not pass emissions with the larger motor. It will also be difficult to sell later on for the same reasons.

I almost bought a silverado a couple years back that had a 5.7L in it, but the owner had changed the motor from a 4.3L to the 5.7L, and it wouldn't pass emissions testing because the VIN identified it as having emissions associated with the 4.3L (one could argue that perhaps the 5.7L wasn't set up correctly either). Just something to think about - I'm not an expert on emissions, so perhaps there's something that can be done there.
