hub bearing replacement?

I need to have my front hub bearings replaced on my 99 malibu, and I was wondering if anyone has an idea of what it might cost. I read somewhere that it might be $200+ per side??? Does that sound about right? If so, is this the type of thing that really needs to be done in a shop or could a person who doesn't really work on cars (well, it would be someone like my brother) follow instructions and do it themselves? I just replaced all 4 tires and really want to keep this next repair as cheap as possible! Anybody have a general estimate? I suppose that way if I have to ask our local mechanic I will know if his price is average or what....

Re: hub bearing replacement?

I bought 2 of them on ebay for about $65 each and replaced them myself renting the hub removal tool for free at Murray's discount auto. That's pretty cheap.
