How long will it last?

I run a 1995 LSI coupe 1100 miles a week. Apart from topping the oil up every 3 months! and having the cam belt changed at 133,000 miles and replacing consumables my car gets no special attention. I drive it like I hate it (I love it really) and its now completed 193,000 miles. I keep thinking - it must break soon . . . but it never does, it runs so sweet and never misses.

What is going to break first and what are the warning signs?

Re: How long will it last?

The LSI is a pretty standard offering here in the UK it has a non-VTEC 16-valve 1500 cc motor, the coupe is a 2 door version with a conventional boot (trunk). The coupe was a Honda import from the USA.

I also have a second LSI with a different body shape. It looks like a 3-door hatchback but isn't - instead the rear glass swings up and the bottom of the back door drops down so you can sit on it and watch stuff go by . . . gymkhanas, stampeding buffalo, whatever you prefer, so long as its done whilst sipping a fine Earl Grey it makes little diffrence :-)

Can anyone tell me what this body shape is called?

I love my coupe - I hate the other thing. I can't explain why.

Re: How long will it last?

That weird car you have with the glass that swings up and the tail gate that drops down is called a "hatch back". Commonly reffered to as a "hatch", or "eg" (5th generation civic hatch... in the U.S. anyways). It's a great car! I have one. It is lighter than any other style of civic. Only CRX's are lighter than our hatch-backs. And some are even a bit heavier. (The later model SI's). And I don't know why you hate "the other thing". Just don't call your car a "coupe" because it isn't. Your's is the hatch. And for what it's worth, I hate the 6th generation civic hatch's. (96-..I think 98 or 99 or something)
Don't ask me why. I just can't find them attractive. (and they're heavier)
Cheerio!

Re: How long will it last?

I have both a coupe and the hatchback (as I understood it the UK hatchback is different again, the whole back door swings up). I also used to have yet another 4 door LSi saloon . . . I hated that too! I think the thing with the hatchback is the trim is different and not to my taste - its a stripey chintzy fabric while the coupe I have is plain dark grey. And the dash on the coupe is a shiney black instead of grey/gray. Small differences but that's all I can pinpoint.

Re: How long will it last?

throw up some pics lol bubble hatches are sweet..and pretty easy to work on..things you might need to replace could be axles, plugs, wires, sometimes gaskets or seals..youll notice those tho cuz youre exhaust will start to be blue/gray or when youre burnin oil bad itll be black..but still if its got a SOHC non-vtec those motors have a lot of aftermarket support and finding replacement parts shouldnt be hard
