Vehicle Recall
Hello everyone:
I just found there will be a recall on the Xterra. Check this link: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/proble...s/central2.cfm One for the fuel tnak, cap filler, the other for the ABS sensor allowing water to enter in the rear axle, causing corrosion and posible wheel separation. I thought everyone should know asap! Cedrec |

abs recall
i know this is a very old thread, but i just took my x in to get my window regulators replaced on rear automatic windows, i have a 2001 x 4x4 built in june of 2001, i had the front two replaced in october. the prob is with a little clip but they replace everything, anyways they called me back in an hour and said they had to keep the truck overnight because they had to do the recall with the abs sensor and it takes 3-5 hours for the axle housing to dry when they reseal it, so be prepared to be without it for a day. just thought i would let you know.

I figured if I took mine in for *anything*, it would be a month before they got the parts in... ...That's *if* they agree to replace anything under warranty...

according to Mike Shad Nissan the window regulators are not a recall as of yet, although 3 out of 4 of mine have gone out 2 in the front and one in the back, they said the pass side rear window just needed to have the track lubed, whatever. They also said that xterra's that are in warmer climates are the ones having problems with the windows breaking
All I know is my 3/36mo. is almost up and the 4th window hasn't gone out yet. The abs sensor being replaced didn't cost a thing and I did have to leave the truck overnight.

While we're at it, there's another recent recall on some 2002 models having to do with an airbag wiring clip.

Well of course the guys in the warmer climates are the ones having more trouble with their windows. They actually get to use them. Mine have been frozen shut all winter.

mine have basically been frozen, seeing as how they couldn't go up or down.
my question when they did the recall on the ABS sensor how will i know for sure if water hadn't already got into the axle and started rusting things out. yeah like they're going to tell me, they are a business like anyone else and they are out to make a lot of money with the smallest of costs. i just don't want to find out 40k down the road that the rear end is rusting from the inside out. also what about the excessive squeaking from the backend is everybodys packs back there rusting, i've seen posts about people using thin oils like olive oil to cover up this noise but this is stupid that we should have to put up with it anyways, i've got 2 other trucks one is an 86 ranger with the original leaf springs and it doesn't squeak at all, i'm just wondering if they have used inferior parts here and there. what about the SLR leafs if anyone has them please let me know how they are holding up.
