Do you like your job?

Who here likes their job. Like actually gets up and says "man I really like what I do" Im asking because I want to know if you all think its more important to really like your job, or to have a job with benefits. I work at publix (big supermarket chain in southeast) that offers really good benefits and decent pay, but I hate the job. Im full time in school and about 30-35 hours at work and feel like quitting work. I like school, but I just want a job that is at least more enjoyable and doesnt wear me out. Should I go elsewhere?

pubix wears you out? like just ebcause all the people there are old. dont develop al time ers. i cant spell that word. pubix is sweet, cuz things are cheap, and they make you special cakes. its kinda like roundy's/pick and save/copp's here in the midwest.

im currently in a locally owned fast food chinese resturant chain. it sucks. i dont ever wake up and after class say, i want to go to work. i just dont like what i do, feeding the very overweight to become more overweight. go figure. its not hard either but hey. its a damn job. cant wait to start at quiznos in the suburbs next week, at least i'll not have to worry about it too much.

i work in a signshop and wouldnt change it for anything right now i get a really good paycheck but no benefits...but i am covered in benefits due to my moms husband is full time army, i like it mainly because i get to design and create i guess theres just a feeling of accomplishment..

I run a clothing company. Im my own boss. I set my own hours. And I love it. I dont think I could ever go back to working for someone.

I work for Goody's (clothing store) and it's easy, but not the most exciting thing. I cant complain because it beats Burger King by far (where i worked previously).

i think it's safe to say that you're not going to like any job you're doing while you're studying simply because of the time pressures involved. Most jobs you do whilst studying are a neccessity to living and not really the thing you want to be doing.
Come back after you graduate and working properly before asking this question.

Once you're done studying though, that is a different matter and whether or not your enjoy it would be done to your personality and whether or not you chose your subjects (and hence profession) honestly with regards to what you enjoy doing.
My sister qualified in marketing and advertising. She's not brilliant at it as she well, lacks a certain creative flair. She currently works as a lending officer in a private swiss bank (i.e nothing realted to her qualifications). She's the kind of person who enjoys work for the achievement of getting things done and the occassional saying "no, we don't want your business" to celebrities.....
You can give her any job and while she might not like the job, she would still go and do her best at it and enjoy the process of excelling at it.

I am an architect's assistant in a small office that's been running for about 6 years now. I've been there for 2 and am more or less running the design studio (albeit in a small office, there isn't much design to do and there is a certain amount of autonomy anyway). I am only scheduled to go in 2 days a week and I get paid.... enough....

There's the old thing that is said (but not a saying) that the things you will excell in will be the things that you enjoy.

I agree. College jobs will always cut into time you could either be studying or partying.

I recently graduated and started working as an international buyer/ planner for a medical supply company. The industry doesn't interest me that much but I like what I do and it fits my personality. My job depends on my ability to track and piece together the constantly shifting pieces of inventory and buying just enough of what we need before we need it.

My advice to you is to keep your well paying job. It may not be glamorous but when you're in school the numbers on the paycheck are what usually end up being most important. I would've killed to get a job at Publix when I was in school, but instead I managed to pick up a spot at Movie Gallery working for peanuts... and free rentals.

I learn a bit, and the pay is great, but it's no career.

It's OK. I don't hate it all the time, which is more than I can say for previous jobs. But I don't enjoy it as much as some previous jobs either. At least the money is OK.

I hate my current one. That's why I'm quitting it tomorrow. The only job I've ever truly hated so much that I'm just going to quit and not come back.

I work at U-Haul. worst job ever. I put in my 2 weeks 1 week ago... I find no motivation to finish my last week. Of all the jobs i've had, it is the lowest paying yet most stressful of all. DO NOT EVER WORK AT U-HAUL!

I like my job at Best Buy, I would not have traded it for anything. I got asked to be on the project crew there traveling from state to state to help set up other Best Buys. Then one day my roomate got me fired at no fault of my own. Since then I have to do hard manual labor at a landscaping company in order to get decient pay (but still not close to what I would have been making plus I hate it).

I miss working in a decent studio, I'm stuck at a stupid dept store studio. I hate it! I'm on call all the time. on call, for what? Crazy mom can't wait 2 secs. only one room anyhow.

I love doing my own work though, mainly cause, it's mine. I shoot what I want and it's great.

Ready for this one. Right now I'm in school but off track. My wife is on track and taking classes. On top of that we own and opperate a infant and toddler clothing store, a home theater installation business, and I work full time at a local gas station (it pays really well). Why would we do so much all at once? Well we just want to get out of debt. Between all this we should be out of debt by middle of next year. If I really push my home theater business... by Febuary. Anyone need some home audio equipment at a good price? =)
