If a NA Civic runs a 14 second 1/4 mile, roughly, what should the 1/8 mile be for that same car?
I would make an uneducated assumption that it would be 7 seconds, but I'm probably wrong. I know there are a lot of factors involved but just give me a ball-park estimate. I went to the drag races for the first time last night and it was an 1/8 mile track and all these loud-ass Novas and V8 Mustangs and crap were running like 8 and 9 second 1/8's. And I was like wow, could I actually come down here in my eg hatch after my motor swap and beat these guys? Any HELPFULL replies would be appreciated. |

Re: 1/4 mile to 1/8 mile estimates?
No, really I can't give you an estimate about how fast you would run in the 1/8, but look at it this way the 1/8 mile your car will start at 0mph and end at like 50mph or 60mpm, I'm pulling that number out ot the air, but you'll get the point. The second 1/8mile (to make a 1/4) your car is already going 50/60mph, and will only increas, but travling the same distance as the first 1/8. So your first 8th will be much slower than the second; thus you can't just divide your 1/4mile an hour run by two. One question though what type of NA civic runs 14's?...or maybe what year and swap are you looking at?

Re: 1/4 mile to 1/8 mile estimates?
Well I havn't yet decided which swap to go with and I'm not sure about which (if any) motors could run a 14 in my car. I have a 95 civic hatch DX. I would think a B18C5 or maybe even a C1 could do it. If not, maybe an H22. Of course with whichever motor, I would use some basic bolt-ons such as i/h/e and maybe lightened flywheel and better clutch, etc.
Okay, here's a question: What would be the cheapest route to getting my 95 hatch into the 14's? Would my D16Z6 do it with the right turbo setup? |

Re: 1/4 mile to 1/8 mile estimates?
I was looking at dragtimes.com and I saw a few 5th gen civics in the low to mid 14's without turbos. One gsr, one ITR, and even a b16a. Oh and on all the cars with 14 second 1/4's, the 1/8's were around 9.0-9.5 so I guess that answers my original question.

Re: 1/4 mile to 1/8 mile estimates?
Here are my times and whatnot....i'm still getting used to running my car. Also, my 2 step is set too low for the slicks i ran at the end of the day so my launches weren't as good as they could have been
