Testing a 94 Firebird for the weekend, some problems..

Hey
My uncle has a car lot and a firebird with a 350 and a 6 speed came in.. its a 94, but when im in say 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th gear especially .. i notice when i kick it down, it revs up .. it takes off but it revs right up .. let off the gas and it goes RIGHT back down .. im guessin its clutch slipping. When you let out the clutch, it doesn't grip until very last second. Is this normal? I'm wondering if possibly the clutch just needs set?, thanks for any advice ahead of time

With it being a sports car you can bet that it has been abused to an extent. How much is it? It might be worth it even if it needs a clutch but make sure you get a high performance one. Oh, if it was the clutch you would feel it in every gear not just 3rd-6.

its in great condition and only has just over 100K on it, and yea im startin to notice it in second if i hit it real hard, and its only 5000 bucks, so i figured even if i do have to put a clutch in it, which i can get cheap because of course my uncle owns the lot and can get parts n labour cheap, i feel confident that it is worth it

Its what you want. If it was not your uncle I would say jew the guy down to 4grand or so but if your uncle will work with you on the problems go for it. Post up some pics.

edit- How does the clutch feel when you push on it. Firm, soft and easy. or real easy like nothing is there? Also do you feel any vibration in the peddle?

the clutch feels quite firm, it feels basically as firm as my truck (1991 GMC Sonoma) and the clutch is fine in that.. I never noticed vibration in the pedal, but when i let the clutch out going into first .. the car does vibrate a bit
