Edwards Predicts Doom for African-American Males

Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards said if he isn’t elected president, the population of African-American males is likely to either wind up in prison or dead.

At an MTV/MySpace.com forum Thursday, Edwards responded to a question about inner-city kids partaking in violence by saying there was no “silver bullet” to fight the problem.

“We start with the president of the United States saying to America, ‘we cannot build enough prisons to solve this problem. And the idea that we can keep incarcerating and keep incarcerating — pretty soon we’re not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They’re all going to be in prison or dead. One of the two.”

Hoo boy. I can't be 100% certain, but I think they have white guys and latinos in prison, too. (don't quote me on that)

You guys do whatever you want with this one. There's plenty of room for spin both ways. I'll look for some more links.

For what the polls are worth no wonder he only has a rating around 14%.

Looks like he is making a feeble attempt at courting the black vote which probably won't help. Last time I checked he needs the white, latino, and asian vote to win the Democratic Party presidential nomination. If, which is a big if, he is elected president like he can really do something about it. What he is proposing? Integration of these elusive two public school systems, bussing or what? ........

Texas Student Booted From School for Wearing John Edwards T-Shirt

A Texas high school sophomore's parents might sue after the school booted the student from campus for wearing a John Edwards for 2008 president T-shirt.

Pete Palmer, a sophomore at Waxahachie High School, says he didn’t think he was doing anything wrong wearing the political shirt to school.

But according to the Waxahachie Independent School District dress code, students can't wear shirts with political slogans.

“T-shirts, other than WISD clubs, organizations, sports, or spirit t-shirts, college or university t-shirts or solid-colored t-shirts, are prohibited," according to the policy.

I sure would hate to be a teacher in the public school system these days.
