Dirt Track After math

Figured I would post up the destruction that can happen to a car after its been at a dirt track. I have been running this car for 2 yrs now, and it is now being moved to being a backup car. A lot of the damage is a result of me having to run a high line to keep up with the cars with more horsepower and them pushing up into me. I have also had several cars spin in front of me with me having no place to go, or me getting a good run through the turn to have someone jump in front of me at the last second going slower than me.

This cars last race, it finished 11th out of 20 cars, with me starting in the very last row and getting hit by an Oldsmobile Toronado on the first lap(it caused most of the damage on the right rear and the buckle in the speaker panel under where the rear window was). Somehow it took the Toronado's Radiator out, it also bent my upper control arm and strut, but some how it was stable when I was up to speed. I have raced with a bent upper arm on the left rear before and it didn't last that long, I have no idea how it did finished. I did manage to bite the inside of my mouth and bruise a rib from the last wreck, but I'm fine.

Anyways, I am currently uploading the pictures and trying to get them setup for thumbnails real quick.

Couldn't find any pics from before the car ever touched the track, but it didn't have any dents in it when I first brought it out there.

Re: Dirt Track After math

you should peel all the stickers off, take out the cage, take it to a body shop, and ask what do you think this will cost me?

Re: Dirt Track After math

That would be funny...wonder how long they would just look at it trying to figure out what happened to it.

Forgot to list the parts it has went through:
Replaced Engine/Tranny after 1st year
Countless Axles, struts, and bumper covers
Replaced OEM Front bumper rebar half way through 2nd yr(still has the OEM Rear)
Replace complete left rear suspension 3 times
Replace front lower control arm once
Replace OEM Power steering rack once, then switched to manual(manual rack is shot now)
1 Out tie rod end
2 Timing Belts(none broke while racing)

I think thats all. Worse part that I kept having to replace was the Left rear suspension because people kept hitting me right in the wheel.

Re: Dirt Track After math

Nah, not really, but thats because my dad still works at a salvage yard, so some of the parts I still got for free. I would say I have $800-$1k total in the car, the cage itself is worth atleast $500, very good cage. CRX is getting one made by the same guy, i get them cheaper than $500 though The hatchback will probably end up with a partial cage, mainly a harness bar and some side bars low beside the seats.
