'92 Explorer 4x4 stalling

I purchased this truck about three months ago and I have been havingproblems with it stalling. When I start it it will run for about 15 seconds and then it'll stall.

The RPM gauge will rise and fall above the 1000 before it dies. The crazy thing is after I usually drive it for a few minutes and the stalling problem goes away. I wouldn't worry so much if it was just the fact that it needed to be drivin more, but, the other day I drove it to the city and it stalled in the middle of an intersection.

I've checked the fuel pump and filter and they're fine. Some people have siggested at cold tempurature sensor and an idling sensor, but when I hooked it up to my code reader it doesn't say anything about my sensors being gone, and I don't want to spend the money on a sensor just to find out that it was something else. My dad (who's a retired mechanic) suggested that he could bring the idling up a bit and it might stop.

Any idea's? This is my first ford...I don't know much about them.

The idle speed on these is not considered adjustable, so if the idle speed is off, turning it up won't fix the problem, just possibly mask it.

After it stalls, does it start right back up, or does it crank for awhile? Is your code reader also a scan tool by chance, in that it will allow you to monitor some of the sensors in real time? If so, watch your TPS voltage for linearity as you depress the throttle (key on, engine off), the MAF voltage, the DPFE, and the IAC. Also check all your vacuum lines and the air intake hoses for cracks or loose connections.

The TPS is the throttle position sensor. MAF is Mass Air Flow sensor, DPFE is Differential Pressure Feedback EGR (common to fail), and the IAC is the Idle Air Control.
