doh, i was writing a reply and just realized u did use ur MACRO setting..

how come are you to the object? Some cameras work better closer, some work better further away...

keep practicing and you'll master the art of macro!!

Hey Ryan, if u can try and post some better pictures that would be great!

so far i can tell they at least resemble the spoon rims...

i've seen these rims in person before, and they do resemble the actual rims very closely.
