Two questions on F1 GTR

Hello,

I have two questions :
1) Which F1 has won most races ? And how many ?
2) How customers who buy GTR were selected and how much was the car ?

In fact four questions

Thanks

Phil

Re: Two questions on F1 GTR

Hi Phil

Good questions!!! I'll add to my answers once I have researched each one.

Q's 1) and 1a) - 02r won the most races, totalling 5 wins out of it's 12 races and 9 finishes.

Q 2) I don't think they were selected to be owners (like Ferrari and the Enzo / FXX) I think Ray Bellm and co. wanted Mclaren to make a racing variant of the F1 road car, ending up calling it the GTR, and Ron and Gordon caved . I believe the people who wanted the GTR to be made were some of the first owners of the GTR's, the rest approached Mclaren to become owners, not the other way round.

Q 2a) I don't think the value of the GTR's (short and long-tail) was ever made public; like you though, I wouldn't mind finding out

However, another question should be which GTR was the most successful? Not just the most wins, but the best placed finishes throughout it's career? Of course, some GTR's raced only a few races - #01R won it's only race, #18R raced twice and won both times, both having 100% records - and others raced many times eg #19R raced 34 times and only won once.

Greg

PS you have a PM!!

Japan GT series for several years from 1998 on. I think #25R has competed in even more events than that with similar levels of success.

#19R raced in 1997 at Suzuka in Lark livery as well; #25R has raced in 26 races

QV500 does not have record of all races. #25R continued racing through at least the 2005 season.

So for I've managed to find 2 races for 2005 for #19R, both at Fuji, with a DNF and an 18th place.

For 2003 I've found 7 races, with a placing no higher than 9th and a couple of DNF's....

So that takes #19R up to at least 41....

Re: Two questions on F1 GTR

You'll have to be careful doing it that way. The JGTC records referred to both cars as GTR 19R even when they were participating in the same race.

I think 19R actually stopped racing in the JGTC in 2002 and was sold in 2003 ending up at Symbolic in San Diego. All the races where an F1 GTR participated from 2003 on would have been #25R, the Hitotsuyama Racing car.

Re: GTR race statistics

I originally intended to post these infos in "this thread", but for unkown reasons my post wasn't added (i tried several times??? - weird) - so I started this new thread!

If your are interested, I also have an excel-file with more race stats.
You can download it here:

I was able to merge the two threads so we could keep this discussion in one place.
