shifter button

Why is the shifter button is so hard to push-in. I have to cup the shifter and button with both hands and squeeze pretty hard to move it.

hmmmm,,,i have that same problem only in cold weather.i was told that when you press the the button,a pin drops down and allows the shifter to move.in cold weather the greese get hard and pin sticks.mine is so bad i have to warm the car up first before i can push button in.

Thanks aurora199540 for the thought, but I live in Phoenix, AZ and it hardly ever gets cold here. If you find out any other info. please send it my way, thanks again.
