97 Yukon--new motor, won't start
This is our first post. We just put in a 5.7L 350 Vortec into our 97 yukon. Got everything hooked back up, and we have fuel movement into the engine, lights, and even the starter kicks in. It turns over, it just won't fire. Assuming we are not really stupid (like we remembered to put the oil and we got the firing order right, and the distributor is right on)...what the heck else could it be? Is there supposed to be a sensor on the right side of the block near the starter? Not O2s, something else. We would really appreciate the help before we go
!!! Thanks! Any ideas?

Basics here, do you have spark, fuel press. and injector pulse?

No spark whatsoever at plugs. Good fuel. Checked coil and wiring today. Still nothing. How do you check the injector pulse?

Re: 97 Yukon--new motor, won't start
The timing on a vortec is set different that on the old distributors. You have to have a scanner to set the timing. I don't think that any scanner will do, I think that it has to be done by the dealer or with a high end scanner.
