got a question

ok so i've done some looking...and i've always wanted to design my own car, and one day build it.

i came up with the idea of centerline steering in my car. cause i know everyone that drives a Mclaren loves the line of sight that centerline provides. so i was gonna use it in mine...but then it popped into my head that some people might see it as a decendant of the f1...and if it didnt live up to the F1's legacy than y do it.

question...should i go with centerline or the conventional lhd/rhd?

centerline makes it kinda unique, and does help with LOS.

i'll c if i can take a photo of my drawing and post it. imo it looks cool...u guys/gals might have issues with it.

also the f1 is that different than the f1 gt in terms of top speed?

Though the F1 is the most widely know car to use the center steering wheel configuraiton, it's not as if the F1 invented it. I'd be more concerned if a new vehicle copied the exterior styling of the F1 (see: Saleen S7, Mosler MT900, others) than utilized it's seating arrangement. People will obviously make the connection, but if you unabashedly explain you chose it because the F1 proved it offers great benefits then I don't think you'll hear much grief.

If you have a dream you go for it or you will always regret not giving it a chance.
I doubt you will get any bother building a car to your own design, it's only tricky if you do build replicas then you run the risk of the constructors of the original getting awkward about it.

Going the cetreline route is also handy when travelling across different countries - no worries about lhd / rhd driving......

thanks...i was just thinking of building a one off. a kit car for myself. no mass production...unless there was interest.

when it comes to exterior design the closest thing to the Mclaren is the roof scoop. it's not as aerodynamic as the mclaren...funny u should mention the saleen and mosler...untill u said them i never really noticed how much they do look like the F1. rear design...short with a raised blended spoiler. also on top of the roof scoop is a row of "teeth" because the scoop wouldnt allow enough air to get to the spoiler. the teeth make a disturbance in the flow so it brings more air to the spoiler(yes like the evo 9) the front is short. but large enough for 2 radiators...no luggage space(but i wouldnt need it) and then a v8 mid mounted with twin turbos and intercoolers. i'm hoping for somewhere near 600hp. i wanna try awd but if i cant find a transfer case for that much power...i'll just go rwd. it's got brake vents for both rear and front brakes.

if u wants cars that look like it...porsche 911 gt1 for the cockpit roundness. F1 roof scoop. vector m12 spoiler. the lights eh...not really comparable. over all the car is short...i'd say something like a vette...maybe a few inches longer(only for the mid engine) wheels...17inch. to big and it slows te car...to small and they look stupid. i just gotta get a front view drawing and one from the top.

i really wish i had the money for a CAD program...and a computer to run it. that shiten program costs like 1500 bucks...for a decent one. i spent 800 on one and it sux.
