cd\dvd\mp3 head unit?

I decided to go all out on my head unit, and I want a touch screen DVD\CD\MP3 head unit (and prob with other stuff i havent decided if I want it yet or not).

My question is what is a reliable, kinda cheap (in the 300-400 range) that can do all of this? and thay have radio right? (dumb question but i cant find anything on any of the dvd head units about radio , and by the way im talking about the kind with the screen that pop out)

Re: cd\dvd\mp3 head unit?

O.K. Ive been looking and I found 2 that I realy like and I dont know if there any good or if one is better than the other but they both have what I want and I just need to know which one is best for what im wanting to do.

1) the first one is the Phase Linear UV8 7" In-Dash DVD/CD/MP3/WMA Multimedia Receiver http://www.caraudiodeals.com/phase-l...er-p-1209.html .

2)the second one is the Jensen VM9312 Touch Screen 7" TFT DVD/CD/MP3/WMA iPod XM AM/FM .

Thanks.

Re: cd\dvd\mp3 head unit?

Jensen, the 2nd one, looks better. Has more features. I can't stand the Jensen brand though, just as bad as Dual. I should be getting this in the mail today
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...986436,00.html

I got it used from Ebay for 482 bucks. I will post in a day or two and say how it is, but you may want to consider going there and bidding on a used better brand receiver, which you could very well get for that kind of money.

Re: cd\dvd\mp3 head unit?

I assume you want something that plays DVD/CDs/MP3/WMA? Just about all good brand receivers will be able to do this. Panasonic, Pioneer, Clarion, heck even Kenwood wouldn't be a bad choice. Alpines are all right, but I hear some older models have weak motors for the screen that wear out easily or something. Just don't get a refurbished unit as they really aren't that reliable. Here is a link from a seller on Ebay selling Pioneer's entry level receiver for this year for a tad bit above your range, but it is new. Description he used is from Crutchfield.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Pioneer-AVH-P490...QQcmdZViewItem

If you really want new, then you're most likely gonna have to get a Jensen for that budget unless you search ebay for deals like the Pioneer above. Jensen is not bad, should get the job done, but there's better.

best way to find out about ipod compatability is to find a friend that has one and hook it up.

Re: cd\dvd\mp3 head unit?

What is the best head unit I can get that is touch screen\dvd\cd\mp3 and anything else that I would probly need because there is a long list of what I want but those are the main things for around $400? Im gunna end up spending around $300-$400 more dollars then I was planning on just for a touch screen\dvd head unit. Soo do yall think its realy worth it?
And whats the best bargain I can get that is a good company name that wont brake on me and is in general just good?

Re: cd\dvd\mp3 head unit?

You can get a used good brand receiver for 500 bucks on ebay. Bargain. Pioneer usually has the cheapest priced models out of all the good brands. Alpine has the best screens on the market.

Re: cd\dvd\mp3 head unit?

Double DIN means that it can fit two receivers. Should be 4 inches tall and most Toyota trucks including yours should be double din. You are lucky since many DVD/navigation receivers are double din nowadays. You definitely won't find a worthy new model for 500, but should be able to get a good used one from ebay, especially if you don't need one with navigation.
