Support Mod Help

I drive an 01 Grand Prix GT Special Edition 3.8 V6. If i were to get a cold air intake, headers, highflow downpipe/cat, catback system, and a performance cam - possibly GT1/GT2 what support mods should I take into consideration, if any, to prevent damage or get maximum performance and sound quality?
Thanks for reading.

Re: Support Mod Help

longer ratio rocker arms and a recalibrated PCM would be the best bang for your buck, although the recal PCM will require the use of premium fuel to get the full advantage.

K, thanks. What kind of ratios would you suggest or what is available?

Re: Support Mod Help

Best to stay with the stock 1.6:1 ratio if you are going to install a hot cam. Also, you have to consider the lift and duration of the performance cam. When you go to higher ratios of 1.9:1 you will need additional valve train mods like upgraded valve springs, retainers and pushrods. Again, the specs of the cam must be considered unless you plan on blowing your engine.

As I have pointed out in numerous threads in the past you do not need to waste any money on a downpipe if you install headers. The headers will be the downpipe based on design and will require a woven flexpipe/joint which normally comes with the header package. By the time all that is installed you will only have several inches to go before the input of the CAT convertor.
