Brakes

1988 Toyota 4runner, 22-Re, Automatic

I just did all the brakes, put new fluid in and bled them properly(i think). I thought it was air at first because if i stopped on a hill and kept the pedal down firm the pedal would eventually sink to the floor and then i would have no brakes but if i pumped them they would work fine, the pedal would build up again. Now they only work sometimes like once of of 10 times they work but the pedal goes all the way to the floor, and i cant make them work by pumping the brakes. I just discovered a new stream of brake fluid how ever down my brake booster but my fluid level hasn't dropped noticably since i put the new stuff in. Would it just be the seal between the master and the booster or would it be bypassing something in the master itself????any help would be very much appreciated...thanks in advance

If the brake MC had an internal leak (fairly common) there would be no external leak. If the fluid is leaking inside the truck under the dash, it would be the MC. On the other side of the firewall by the booster, still could be the MC.

Re: Brakes

You might be able to get rebuild parts from Toyota, otherwise you'll have to replace the MC.
If you do, make sure to bench bleed it first.

Re: Brakes

Glad you got it fixed, brake problems suck.
