98 expedition motor stalls when idles

unless your pressing on the gas motor stalls, starts fine but instantly dies, so I got on here and see that the air idle control valve is my likely problem. So I get one today and it does no good same thing, so I unhook the hose that goes from the aic to the intake right in front of the throttle body and it actually runs although rough, that hose is sucking air which I presume is right, any ideas what I should look at next I also checked the mass air flow and it was clean not dirty any help would be appreciated. thanks

Check you EGR system for bad hoses.
If you have the V8 then it has a hose that goes bad just below the IAC valve.
It is a big hose and maybe 5/8 diameter or bigger.

You could have other problems also as the IAC should adjust for the above problems.

Had this problem a couple of times. Both times it was a hole in a rubber grommet that connected hoses to the pcv. Easy fix.
