whinning noise
hi to everyone, i just bought a 1998 buick regal gs with 104000 miles on it (private seller)since i bought it when i turn the steering wheel there is a whinning/ buzzing sound that comes from under the hood also when im in a dead stop and try to turn my steering wheel is hard to turn left or right but when im driving its not that bad there is fluid in the resevoir. my question is, is it the pump or the steering rack thanx in advance , also there is no leaks that i could see.

Re: whinning noise
Sounds like the pump is starting to go bad. Check fluid color.

Re: whinning noise
I agree with tailight. It sounds like either low power steering fluid or a bad power steering pump. The pump is in a bad spot on the 3800 engine, in the back below the belt tensioner assembly, so it's kinda hard to reach to check the fluid level.

Re: fluid
Brown is the right color. Maybe it is just the pump.
