Has n e one of yall experienced stripped lug nuts on your rodeo's dude, I hate that when you take it to the shop and they start stripping all your nuts. And they wouldn't replace them under warranty when it's isuzu's fault for having gay aluminum lug nuts instead of steel. N e ways, I'm not taking my car to the shop n e more. Besides on work on my car mostly myself now n e ways. 4 example, all the minor and major stuff. O well, I don't trust dealers n e more. ARggggggg

Found two stripped front wheel lug studs on the 97 I just purchased. Fixing is a bigger job than it should be because you have to take the rotor off the spindle (there's no room to knock the studs out otherwise). There's a smooth nut that holds the spindle on that requires a special two prong socket I couldn't find anywhere (so used a metal punch and hammer to remove). After cleaning and repacking the bearings (inner bearings requires a seal), you're supposed to torque the nut to 25lbs and then back off one full turn. Without the special socket I had to guess. So far so good.

I have the same problem on my wife's 98 rodeo. A tire shop broke one about 6 months ago. Recently as I've tried to check the brake on the front right wheel, I noticed that one lug would partially be removed, but got stuck.

I didn't want to break it, so I took it to one of my buddies who used an air compressor. He had to break one, and another one just wouldn't come out...even with the air compressor. Dam, yo, I'm sick of Isuzu...going cheap on everything...(i.e. bad alternator within 2 years of its life).

Do you guys know where I can purchase the wheel studs other than the dealership? If so, how much and can I get it steel form (versus the stock aluminum)?

My last tire rotation I encountered the same deal. The guy said we broke one of your lugs (which I've become used to hearing by now), we don't have any in stock right now so we'll fix it up next time. Unfortunately I moved in the next month, so had to go to the same shop in my new town for a rotation. After pulling into the bay and hearing the wrenches going, the guy came in and said we don't have any of your lugs in stock and there are 3 more on the same wheel that are tight, so we don't want to take a chance on breaking those.

So I decided to take it to a real mechanic. Turns out he can't get the wheel off at all because the 3 lugs that were "tight" are just spinning. Only choice (or so I'm told) is to cut off the center cap and go from there...which is being done today. $160 estimate for a $2 stud. I'm just hoping that no damage was done to the hub!!

Since you are having the work done today, it may be too late to tell you this but...if you have a dremel tool, you can cut the bolt close enough to take off your wheel (without having to cut your center hub cap). Took me forever one just one because it was also spining, but it's work the $160+- I saved.

I'm hoping a resourceful mechanic in the shop thought of that option this morning. I personally thought of it last night, but figured they would've already tried the simple tasks first.

A buddy of mine had one stuck on his Suzuki Samurai when we started to do the lift for it. We just got it off with some sort of air saw, like a Dremel.
