WIP MFH Ferrari 250LM 60 Red Years GB

Here is the third Ferrari model that i'm building for the group build. It is the MFH Ferrari 250LM '65 Le Mans winner. So far i've built main parts of the engine (44 of them) and painted/polished the bodyparts. Building has been quite straightforward. Cleaning of the white metal parts has been the main issue to work with.

Very nice so far, Niko

The LM is not my favorite version of the forever young 250 but maybe you will change my mind
The engine assembly looks very nice.

Seems we have a deluge of MFH kits at the moment!

For two times I forgot to type "save" and I lost my reply LOL

Fantastic job Niko on the engine/gearbox: I love this Hiro-Climax kit, I own the yellow K102 one. I guess mine have some fitting troubles on the rear cowl: I'll see your done: BRAVO!

Ah, the LM....Beautiful car. I'm pretty sure I will be building one for Masters Challenge. Yours looks great Niko, paint is a killer!
And I think you are right Steven - bunch of MFH kits in the making!

Re: WIP MFH Ferrari 250LM 60 Red Years GB

Quick update...

Engine and transmission is complete. Aluminum parts are painted with MM:s Metalizers, the rest with vallejo acrylics. The edge of brake disks is painted with dark brown to simulate rust that is seen on my reference pics.

This would make really challenging kit for the Masters Challenge. Detail on rear suspension and engine is great, but there is no front suspension details at all.

Re: WIP MFH Ferrari 250LM 60 Red Years GB

Some progress on interior and rear suspension. Fitting of rear suspension was a real pain, but i managed to get it almost symmetric.

Interior of these cars is quite spartan so there are no many parts either: just seats, shifter and pedals. Seats are not fixed yet since i haven't found perioid reference pictures of the seatbelts.

Thanks for your nice comments,
Niko

Looking good

That foot pedal assembly is very nice. Are you going to add any wiring to it just for the fun of it?

Not too hard to scratchbuild. I will have to re-do it anyway to incorporate opening front boot and all the insides anyway.

Re: WIP MFH Ferrari 250LM 60 Red Years GB

Dashboard is finished. Steering wheel is painted first with flat brown then clear orange to simulate wooden steering wheel of the real thing. Switches are just polished white metal. Gauge lenses are simulated with epoxy glue.

Complete interior:

Still looking for references of the seat belts used on '65.

->Klutz: No additional wiring for this one, just OOB build.

great stuff... but if you've got the nice MFH kit, why'd you want the curbside academy kit?

Well, why do i need 7 daytona kits? Actually i was planning to do the shortnose version from the Academy kit someday.

Quick update:

Fuel tanks are done, it took quite a lot cleaning to get them look decent.

Superb job Niko. Overall I love the finished engine, neat. If you are still in search of the Accademy crap just say me, I own the Hiro's LM now and I'm selling the plastics stuff.

The more I get into my 166MM, the more I appreciate your work here and on your other builds
