Steering rack

Hey does anyone here have information on the steering rack and performance of the Mclaren? I guess i am mainly asking who provided the rack to Mclaren or was it made in house? And what was the minimum turn radius? I just resently read that it was only 2 turns lock to lock, one would imagine either the turn radius was pretty big, or the ratio was really quick in which case wouldn;t it be more difficult to pull into a parking space and what not since a rack and pinion does not have much mechanical advantage?

Re: Steering rack

The rack as far as I know is 2 turns lock to lock (the GTR was even less).
I'm certain it was a bespoke item made for mclaren to their own design but by a specialist Rack manufacturer.
With McLarens motorsport links getting a rack made would be easy.

Re: Steering rack

^^I agree; as a side note, were some road-going F1's retro-fitted with the GTR rack, substituting the poor turning circle for a quicker response?
