changing the auto transmission to manual

I am about to buy a 1997 cavalier 2.4 L 2-door that has a blown transmission.
I like manual transmissions more then automatics.
So, I decided I would put a manual in my car instead of an auto but how much extra work is involved other then installing a clutch?

Where is the best kind place to buy a tranny from?

How much should I expect to pay?

last of all, I want to give my lil 4 cyclinder a boost how can I give it an extra 40 or more HP and do it in a day?

theres ONLY 3 ways you will get an extra 40 horsepower, a turbocharger, a supercharger, or NOS, and good luck doing one of those in just 1 day

Re: changing the auto transmission to manual

damnit, 4 ways

also, about your tranny swap, you should just buy a 97 z24 that is already a stick, that will cost you less then converting your current car

wow what a great site

You can easly install Nitrous in a day.

If you are wanting some extra hp.

Intake
Header
Cams
Highflow cat and a good muffler. you you might be lucky to get 10-15 hp from that.
Could also do the 2.3 intake mani swap

I like this guy ^^^^^

I was actally going to say

CAI and full (bigger) exhaust (hi-flow/no cat) wil be a good start. 20hp or so.

more air in, more air out.

and yes you can do nitrous in one day assuming you have everything for it. Hey you wanna buy a 10lb NOS bottle? lol.....
